"Exploring the Green Future: Futura Expo's Vegetal Pavilion
Nestled between nature and sustainable architecture, Futura Expo's Vegetal Pavilion is a symphony of innovative spaces, industrial symbiosis, and interactivity, guided by the creative mind of Raffaella Laezza, architect and scientific coordinator of the second-level Master's program in Emergency Temporary Circular Architecture at the IUAV University of Venice.
Picture immersing yourself in an indoor forest, a unique experience where live plants and structures made of natural materials merge to create an unprecedented atmosphere within this Expo.
From the moment you step into the exhibition area, you'll be greeted by majestic plane trees towering up to 3.5 meters, embarking on a journey through the biodiversity of a forest. Additional spaces are crafted with spruce wood, a reed similar to bamboo found along Italian rivers, and recycled cardboard. The ingenuity of the architecture is also expressed through the reuse of elements from the 2022 Expo, embracing the philosophy of raw material recycling.
What sets Futura Expo apart is its Carbon Neutral certification, a pioneering achievement for Italian exhibitions. Following a Life Cycle Thinking approach, the entire project was developed in collaboration with environmentally responsible and transparent partners, ensuring climate control from the early stages of design to installation.
Futura Expo 2022 has calculated and offset the carbon emissions inevitably generated during its realization through recognized projects, showcasing a tangible commitment to environmental sustainability.
The green heart of this exposition is the Botanical Forest, spanning 15,000 square meters and populated by over 500 plants. The walls of stands and meeting areas are designed with tree and shrub species, creating a fluid and enveloping environment. An authentic indoor forest where oaks, hornbeams, willows, birches, poplars, maples, and many other species thrive within the walls of the Brixia Forum, exuding a fragrance of well-being and redefining the concept of exhibition space."
"Dean Marino's 'Awareness' Installation: A Sustainable Art Experience.
Today, we will delve into the fascinating world of art and sustainability with the installation titled 'Awareness' by Dean Marino. Presented at the 'Future Economy for the Environment' event, held from October 8th to 10th, 2023, at the CONFAPI area, this installation is a masterpiece that combines Marino's sculptural mastery with environmental awareness.
Crafted entirely from natural materials, the artwork is an eloquent example of sustainability, comprising 6 wooden totems worked with the traditional Japanese technique of Yakisugi. This ancient method, involving wood carbonization, not only imparts a unique beauty to the sculptural elements but also contributes to preserving the material over time.
Furthermore, the installation is imbued with the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi, celebrating impermanence and the beauty of imperfections. Every detail of the artwork reflects the profound connection between humans and nature, inviting viewers to contemplate their relationship with the surrounding environment.
