From 12 at 20 May 2023 I had the great pleasure of participating on the occasion of the "Brescia Capitale Della Cultura 2023" event in the collective exhibition organized by the Artspace7 gallery in the suggestive location located in Piazzetta Bruno Boni in Brescia.
It was an excellent opportunity to start the tour of my wooden installation entitled "The Changeling" which will continue with the participation in the next exhibition "Recycled art", to culminate with the July exhibition at Palazzo Vinati in Castegnato with an installation made up of twenty wooden works sculptures rigorously worked with the yakisugi technique and pervaded by the Wabi-sabi philosophy very dear to me.
The installation present at the "Contemporaneamente" exhibition is made up of three totems that have a fir "body" from the Val di Fiemme carved with straight horizontal, vertical and crossed lines. It is then worked with the Japanese "Yakisugi" technique. The use of this technique makes it possible to give the wood a unique aspect rich in nuances and allows the sculpture to take on an aspect that I would define as antique and which reveals its imperfect beauty.
The upper part of "The Changeling" is in Cedar of Lebanon carved to create grooves that generate an evocative play of light and shadow. Each element also has three circular holes to represent the conscious, rational mind, aware of the strength of its own uniqueness.
